About Guacamole
About Guacamole
Guacamole is a butter-like avocado-based condiment. Originally developed by the Aztec civilization, guacamole was prepared with ripe avocados, tomatoes, and salt. The ingredients were mashed together using a molcajete.
As avocado becomes exposed to air, an enzyme begins to break down the avocado and the fruit will begin to turn brown. This is unavoidable, but the process can be delayed by applying a small amount of lemon juice.
